Not only is Tycho back, back, back again, but they’ve brought Benjamin Gibbard (of Death Cab for Cutie and the Postal Service) on board for a collaboration that is equal parts modern electronica and soaring, lilting indie vocals.
Gibbard’s voice is iconic, and an instant callback to the early 2000s indie rock that arguably changed the face of a genre. And Tycho, well Tycho can do no wrong, as far as I’m concerned. AND THEN, as if that weren’t enough, powerhouse Brijean got involved, and added their own ethereal, dazzling sauce to this already delectable offering.
The end result is a golden-hued, sparkling fusion of dream pop and indie electronica for the mind, body and soul. It’s a transcendent, cathartic, and beautifully soulful track that carefully blends the best elements of all artists involved.
There’s really a little something for everyone in this little gem. Variety is the spice of life, after all.
