Bad Tuner's latest offering is a choppy lofi house track called "could i." The groovy beats and instrumentation managed to catch my ears at first listen, and haven't lost them since.
While the song is at times slightly repetitive, I actually think that ends up working really well for it: the melodic pivot around the repeating refrain of "could I be the one you love?" is somewhat hypnotic, and I almost forget about the lyrics along the way.
At 2:23 there's a reprieve and it all breaks through into a lovely little bassy interlude.
At this point, Brooklyn-based Bad Tuner has got to be one of my favorite lofi house producers of the last few years. Hopefully you'll join me in agreeing!
